Defending vs submissions inside tip

Hey guys heres a cool insider tip about submissions.
some of the vet fighters may know this and may think its common knowledge, others are new to the game or were not aware of this particular tip.

I guess the best way to explain it is via hypothetical situation:

Lets say fighter (A) is attempting a Kamura from full guard,bottom position against Fighter (B). A pretty weak submission.

Fighter (A) can only attempt a submission for as long as his energy can sustain him.

That means as soon as Fighter (A)'s energy hits 0% hes going to let go of the submission, even if he was 99% of the way done with the sub attempt.

Knowing this, Fighter (B) shines to defend against the Kamura very slowly. Just enough shine speed to slow down Fighter (A)'s submission attempt. Fighter (B) is watching Fighter (A)'s energy and notices he has less than 1/5 energy left and is aware enough to know Fighter (A) wont be able to finish the sub with the remainder energy. Fighter (B) stops shining all together preventing any further energy drain.
At this point Fighter (A) does not have enough energy to complete the sub before his energy reaches 0, so sub fails and lets go of the sub.

Now, what are you left with?
Fighter (A) is gassed on the ground and is slowly recovering their energy from the failed sub attempt.

Fighter (B) has slightly more energy thus preventing the gassed state.
(When your gassed your punches become very slughish and you are easier to reverse and to transition against.)
By not using up all your energy fighting Fighter (A)'s sub, Fighter (B) is able to punch faster, recover energy slightly faster, and transition a lot easier against Fighter (A) who has little to no energy left (at the very least has LESS energy thatn Fighter (B). (less or no autoblock)

Im currently at work after 8 hrs of lecturing at the time I wrote this so if you cant understand what the heck im talking about, ask so I can clarify and maybe reword some of this stuff.

ok what if a guy is shining like hell or charging on a level 3 sub what can you do on these, very good tips by the way

well if your defending all you have to do is shine enough to prevent him from tapping you out.

You can guage how far his sub is from completing by paying attentino to the zooming of the camera.

The close the camera is zoomed in the more you need to shine. If the camera is pretty far away you can slow down you shine to virtually 60RPMs (1 full circle shine per second)

does that work against guys shining like hell? cuz i'll shine like hell and get subbed a lot and i think they are either shining like hell or charging, oh yeah tried to rep you but it says to spread around some more before i can rep you again, lol

lol thanks for the rep attempt. This tip isnt about preventing getting tapped out, this is about conserving energy against weak submissions. full guard bottom kamura is relativly weak, only a few fighters have lvl 2 or 3. I think shogun may have lvl 2 not sure though. I never play as shogun

god if everyone didn't pick the same guys over and over this game would be so much better. if the sub system and the autoblock weren't the way they are i'm sure a lot more fighters would be used.

Yeah tell me about it, I either always fight against Shogun or Rashad. Thank god Anderson is not a popular pick

Shogun has a lvl 3 kimura from OG down. It is very nasty, especially when you work your way back to OG from SC/HG first and wear their energy down with your transitions (and they've been spamming punches the whole time too, draining their own energy).

Great thread, btw. It is something that as you said most vets know but tons of people don't really think about. No sense shining any more than you need to against weaker sub attempts. +Rep.....er, wait....it won't let me give you rep again. I guess I've given you too much recently.

It works against someone shining like hell if his shine sucks. It's a good way to get a counter sub too. Say your opponent tried an arm bar from the bottom and you fend it off this way he ends up gassed in the bottom ready for you to slap on your own sub. Ive subbed many noob sub-spammers this way.

this only works if the guy is hella gassed or sucks at shining...

never try this against a good submission guy
